Dr. John Dramani Mahama

His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama born on November 29, 1958, is a Ghanaian politician who has served as both Vice President and President of Ghana. He assumed the presidency after the passing of President John Evans Atta Mills in 2012. He later contested and won the presidential elections of December 2012 and served until 2017.

During his tenure, Mahama implemented strategic economic initiatives and massive infrastructure projects across various critical sectors to address economic challenges and improve livelihoods, including efforts to alleviate power shortages and boost job creation through agricultural expansion and affordable housing construction.

His emergence as president came during challenging economic times in Ghana. His administration prioritized strategic economic initiatives to enhance the quality of life for Ghanaians and implemented large-scale infrastructure projects across various sectors like Transportation, Healthcare, Education, Power, and Housing.

He embarked on the construction of affordable housing units at six sites across five regions. He boosted job creation by expanding opportunities in the agricultural sector. To address the power shortage, Mahama deployed emergency plans and sped up the completion of power plants which resulted in the addition of more than 800 megawatts of power within 18 months.

John Dramani Mahama is a man of peace who passionately loves his people. This love for peace and security in Ghana was put to the test when, after a democratic election, he peacefully handed over power to his successor in the spirit of strengthening and sustaining democracy in Africa.
