President Boko Is Steering Botswana Toward Economic Stability And Sustainable Growth

President Duma Gideon Boko is charting a bold course for Botswana’s sustainable development. Since taking office in November 2024 following a historic electoral victory, President Boko has focused his leadership on rights-based governance, economic diversification, and inclusive social policies. At 55, the former human rights lawyer and leader of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) has repeatedly emphasized that the foundation of his administration is built on justice, equality, and opportunity. ‘‘Human rights are not an accessory to governance—they are the heart of it,’’ Boko declared during his inauguration, pledging to tackle poverty, unemployment, and inequality through sustainable reform.
