Championing women and youth empowerment for Africa’s prosperity

Africa’s women and youth resource Africa has the youngest population in the world with over 60% of the continent’s inhabitants under the age of 25. The continent also has the fastest-growing population such that by 2030, about 42% of the world’s young people are expected to reside in African nations. Interestingly, women make up a slight majority of the overall population in Africa. For most African nations, the trend presents a challenge: more mouths to feed, more bodies to keep healthy, millions of jobseekers waiting in line, among other pressing concerns that politicians on the continent have made a habit of converting to campaign materials. But in Rwanda, President Paul Kagame has the challenge figured out. He sees the continent’s burgeoning women and youth population as an opportunity for growth if they are fully empowered to realise their best potential.
